This weekend was HOOOOOOT. So hot, the AC in the house wasn't cooperating and we watched in horror as the temperature steadily rose into the 80's. I had to take desperate measures and donned a bathing suit as my only means of modesty. Saturday, I spent most of the afternoon laying on the bed, under the fan, in my bathing suit posting photos to Flickr. I've been pretty hooked on the site. While I was recovering from my tonsillectomy I basically stayed logged on all day watching the photos flow in. Sort of like work really, except there are never any gross suicide bombing photos on Flickr like at work, which I incidentally looked at one yesterday just as I was biting into a bacon cheeseburger deluxe at my desk. It kind of put me off my lunch. Anyway, back to Flickr. I'm totally addicted. I used to blog here much more frequently but now I'm posting photos over there and checking out new people and groups. Here's a few of my favorites:
Best love affair: Lanky Canadian and total geek chic heartthrob, notext, is totally cookoo for cocoa puffs over Rissa or less_like_math, a Southwestern, single mom that is cute as a button and has a penchant for self portraits and new DIY hairdos. I totally heart these two and watch their story unfold an image at a time with sucked in breath and my fingers crossed for their future.
For surreal, Fruedian fantiasies I look at Dr Joanne. Moody Tsogy from Finland shoots beautiful and lonely landscapes and intimate portraits. From the tropical heat of Guam, chotda serves up photos of refreshing treats from her kitchen and other things that she eats. Food for your eyes.
I've been joining groups. First ones to show off my concert photography and more each day that showcase cupcakes, vintage finds, road trips, flowers, chihuahua lovers, happy couples.... Like I said, I'm addicted.
Besides working on photos, I spent most of my time ingesting mango margaritas, gin and tonics and hard apple cider. I whipped up quesadillas with thinly sliced garlicy pork chops, pepper jack, cilantro and mango salsa.
We went to a matinee to see Broken Flowers. So far, Crash was my favorite movie of the year but this one slyly stole the show. Ona hot afternoon this hit the spot like visiting a gelateria. Each character was rich and intense and in a small portion like a dollop of gelato goodness. Bill Murray has one of his best moments in this film as his life catches up to him. So,so good. Get your butt to the movies right away. I'm also giving the nod to Hustle and Flow. Terrence Howard is my new crush of the hour. He's sort of like the new Mark Ruffalo in my book. You seen him in something and think, hey, that guy is good, why isn't he in anything else and then bang he's everywhere. I'm dreaming of a biopic on Duke Ellington starring Howard.
