I'd like to take a moment to reflect on a few anniversaries occuring this month. First, this is the 15th year I've worked as a journalist. That is a really loooong time. Am I ready for my mid-life crisis yet? This month also marks my 4th year as a singleton. A recent conversation with my ex, The Musician, revealed that the reason for my single state is "you are picky and a pain-in-the-ass." Geez, thanks for clearing that up. Is there some sort of reality show I can go on to cure me of this affliction? Most recently, yesterday marked 3 months for the Magpie. I'm really just getting comfortable with the technology end of things here. Let's see how long I can keep this up for. After much wrestling with fotolog, I've posted new photos toartful_dodger. Including one of yours truly taken by ME at Yosemite. We were there 10 days ago. Yesterday, two hikers were found dead in the park and 13 are missing after a snowstorm. That place has left me in complete awe of nature's power. I have to return my RSVP card to Mr. Please Please's wedding invitation. Actually it was due yesterday. There's this problem. I can't decide if I should put down for a guest. You see, I've never gone to a wedding with a date. I've gone to a few weddings with Cyndemouse, a few by myself. In fact, even when I was with The Musician, I went to several weddings alone since he didn't dig religious ceremonies. That went over REAL big with my sister, let me tell you. I'd really like to show up at a wedding for once with a real date. Why can't I think of anyone to bring? Maybe I should approach this like in the movie, Field of Dreams. "If you build it they will come." If I visualize my date, maybe he'll materialize. Let's see. He's tallish. 5.11 would be perfect. Dark hair. He'd wear a suit. Possibly vintage. Cufflinks, of course. Good dancer. Witty conversationalist. Turn the heads of a few other envious singletons in attendance. Will let me eat the cherry in his cocktail. Will not scold me for wearing impractical shoes. Tell me I look/smell/dance nice. If you have seen this man, please tell him to clear his social calendar for Nov.14.
