Please let me interrupt this broadcast to give a shout to the people at Flickr that make technology so easy, even I, the girl who can't get anything electronic to work properly, have mastered posting photos to my blog. I really, really, really think this is the best thing since oozy sugared jelly donuts. Brace yourselves, I may start to go completely photo posting mad. Although, that would mean I'd have to edit my images in a much more timely fashion than I have been lately. I still haven't sifted through anything I've shot since New Year's Eve. As I do, some will pop up on Flickr. I promise to only post more relevant shots here. The past few weeks have passed by easily, in a soft focus, slow motion, long take accompanied by a dreamy soundtrack. I have been unapologetically basking in the warmth of having an honest to goodness, pinch me to make sure this is really happening to me boyfriend. My friend, Daddy-O, popped in on me unexpectedly to catch up. We chatted for a while about this and that, jazz and punk, his recent divorce and then he abruptly changed the subject. "Did you meet someone?" he asked, cocking his curls to one side. I nod my head vigorously, yes, yes, yes and blush. "I can tell. You're all lit up," he reached out and pats my head fatherly like I am his little girl all grown up. Things have gotten to be a bit on the "All Sweets, All the Time" angle but I'm certainly not complaining. Some day soon we'll have to emerge from the fort made from comforters, sunlight burning our blinking green eyes, for more than sips of juice and sandwiches before hastily retreating back to our lair. In the meantime, I'm quite content to having my social calendar a bit bare. Who knew being a homebody could be so much fun? When we do come up for air, there are some shows that I've got my eye on. And a few that I unfortunately missed out on tickets. Is every show at the Bowery Ballroom sold out? Geez. Tonight's show with The Futureheads (who I have been dying to see after reading Miss Modernage's squishy, gushing about them) and The Shout Out Louds (who I found delightful at a CMJ show at Mercury Lounge in Oct.) Alas, Luna and Ambulance Ltd with VHS or Beta are also sold out. I may have to take the trek to Philly to catch Ambulance LTD at Northstar Bar . The show I caught over the summer was one of the best of the year to me, so I'd like to see them once more before their appearance at Coachella blows them up completely. The inclusion of one of their songs in the film PS was probably the best part of the film. That rated higher than seeing Topher Grace peeling the clothes off his scrawny body. I am musing over dashing off to the Metrotimes Blowout Festival in Detroit, SXSW in Austin, Coachella in CA and Bumbershoot in Seattle this year. Cyndemouse and I have confirmed a trip to Cleveland in June for the CMJ fueled shows at the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame. So many bands, so little time. Sigh.
